Named ‘Bacardi Oro’ after the Spanish word for ‘gold’, this rum was first produced in 1862. Bacardi Gold is blended from 14 different rums aged one-to-two years to produce a rum with a more pronounced flavor profile than Bacardi Superior.
Appearance: Clear, pale golden. Aroma: Restrained butterscotch, toffee, and muscovado sugar with light oak. Taste: Rich ‘burnt’ palate with hints of charcoal, vanilla, toffee, fudge, dry walnut, and citrus fruit. Faint top notes of what I describe as Bacardi’s distinctive mushroom/blue cheese yeast.
Aftertaste: Citrus and fudge with faint blue cheese.
